Moving home

'Stress less - move your belongings with the best'

Those of us that have experienced the whole home moving adventure can relate to the continuous and increasing stress that is inevitable unless you do your best by planning and preparing for the big day.  Those that haven't experienced the joy of moving may be surprised to hear that death, divorce and moving to a new home are three of the most stressful experiences in life. Those of us that have moved before may only be surprised that moving home doesn't actually top the list for most stressful events!

Moving home

Be sure to take on board our seven steps to making your move less stressful:

1: Make sure you're prepared to live through the first few days of the move, i.e. make sure all essentials are readily available at all times, perhaps in a separate hand luggage kept in a separate room in your new home.

2:  Its amazing how the inconvenience of a life’s little luxuries actually effect you so be sure to be organised well in advance and make sure phone companies are  kept up to date with your move and have a new installation date booked in advance.  Most of us struggle to survive without a phone and internet these days.

3:  Remember to divert any mail and inform utility services of meter readings on leaving your old home and arrival in your new home.  Bank statements and credit cards are a valuable source of information in the wrong hands so inform all relevant companies of your move and expected moving date.

4:  Book an excellent removal firm, ask around and get recommendations.  If they are professional they should be more than willing to advise and answer any questions you may have with regards to packing and the whole moving experience.  You are generally expected to pack your own things and this obviously saves you money during this expensive time but the company should provide you with boxes and wrapping paper to get you on your way.

5:  Finding your things at the other end can be a nightmare if you are not properly organised.  Its simple to avoid this hassle, just mark all the boxes clearly with the contents and to which room they belong.

6:  Make use of skips, men with vans and even the local council to get rid of any large items way before moving out date.  It’s a good excuse to get rid of the old sofa or crumbling wardrobe!

7:  To summarise, be prepared.
